In Florida, the DUI laws are pretty straightforward. There is an automatic presumption of guilt in Florida is a driver has a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or more. That is one reason why the blood alcohol content of the Tampa teen who was charged with the DUI Manslaughter death of Jason Plumber was so astounding. The 18 year old girl had a blood alcohol concentration of .74. She should have been comatose, not driving. Florida teen DUI laws are much harsher than those for adults. Still there is a problem with teen DUI nationwide.
In 2011, Florida passed several new laws that increased the penalties for people who hold house parties where teens are more likely to drink and then drive. The new laws that went in to effect in June of last year make it a misdemeanor for an adult to hold a party where minors are knowingly using alcohol or drugs.
